Multiple Teams · Johns Creek Places 2nd in GADA State Athletic Standings


Good Afternoon,

The 2016-17 school year has finally come to a close.  It was truly a remarkable year for the Johns Creek Athletic Department.  The Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) measures total athletic performance of schools based on playoff appearances and how well a school does in the post season. Johns Creek High School finished 2nd this year in the GADA standings for AAAAAA!  This is the second time in school history that the total athletic department has reached this mark.  We compete in the toughest region in AAAAAA with 4 other region schools placing in the top 10 for the GADA Cup.  Here are some of our accomplishments this year:

Region 7 AAAAAA All Sport Champion based on regular season results within the region

Fall Sports:

Football – Region Champions – Region Coach of the Year – Defensive Player of the Year

Girls Cross Country – 2nd in Region – 2nd in State

Co-Ed Cheerleading – 2nd in State

Volleyball – 2nd in Region – Final 4 in State

One Act Play – Region Champions – 6th in State

 

Winter Sports:

Girls Basketball – Region Coach of the Year – Region Player of the Year

Boys Swim & Dive – Fulton County Champions – 5th in state

Girls Swim & Dive – Fulton County Champions – 7th in state

Wrestling – 9 wrestlers qualified for the State Tournament – Top 20 placement in State

 

Spring Sports:

Baseball – 3rd in Region – Final 4 in State

Boys Golf – State Champions – back to back years

Girls Golf – State Champions

Girls Soccer – Region Champions – Region Coach of the Year – Region Player of the Year – 2nd in State

Boys Tennis – 3rd in Region – Final 4 in State

Boys Lacrosse – Sweet 16 in State

Girls Lacrosse – Sweet 16 in State

Girls Track – Region Champions – 6th in State

Boys Track – 12th in State

Michael Taylor – Boys Swimming – 200 yard Free State Champion & State Record with 1:35.40

100 yard Free State Champion & State Record with 45.53

Tatum Smith – Girls Swimming – 50 yard Free State Champion

Adeline Farrington – Girls Swimming – 100 yard breast stroke State Champion

Caden Ciul – Boys Track – 300 meter hurdle State Champion

 

North Metro Positive Female Coach of the Year – Mary Byrne – Girls Soccer

North Metro Positive Female Athlete of the Year – Sydney Tanguilig – Girls Basketball

 

It has truly been an outstanding year for our student-athletes.  We hope that you have enjoyed the many different athletic activities that Johns Creek has to offer.  Now is the time to make sure that you are gearing up to make another run next season in 2017-18.  Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and athletic boosters.
