On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, The Johns Creek Gladiator Varsity Girls took first place, led by sophomore Dani Blank in a time of 22:28.68. This was a very difficult course, where the focus was not on beating a certain time or getting a personal record, but rather where you finished in the race, and how many people you can pass to score points. In Cross Country, the lower the score, the better. The Varsity Girls finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th , 5th and 7th for a total of 21 points! Following Dani Blank were freshman Agam Horowitz, senior Sophie Brandeis, freshman Annabelle Buchanon and senior Kate Konieczka.
Varsity Boys 5k came in 2nd place and senior Matt Wozniak was the team leader in a time of 18:44.51. Sophomore Jack Hoben was 2nd, senior Chesson Sipling was 3rd, junior Max Lichtenfeld was 4th and junior Tyler Heydinger was 5th for Johns Creek.
JV Boys 5k team finished 2nd overall and junior Will Hudgins was the fast closing leader for the Gladiator’s in a time of 20:35.91. He was followed by juniors Xander Clark, Harris Morgan, Connor Schoenl, and Avi Spector.
JV Girls 5k team did not disappoint as they too came away with a 2nd place trophy! Freshman Naomi Kolosna battled for the lead, but had to settle for 3rd overall in a very hard fought battle! She was followed by freshman Alexis Vaka, junior Cameron Shapiro, sophomores Johanna Chien and Haley Krucher.
A win and three 2nd place finishers had head coach Danny Brock leaving the Weslyan facility with a big smile on his face and carrying a lot of trophy hardware! Next up is a dual meet at Chattahoochee on September 29th.
