Coed Varsity Cross Country · Pickens (& ‘A Grinnin) Invitational

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, the Johns Creek Gladiator Cross Country team traveled to Jasper, GA for the inaugural Pickens (‘& A Grinnin’) Invitational 5K. The runners were treated with near ideal running conditions with temperatures in the 50’s, sun and a newly designed fast course (formerly the Sharptop Invitational.) As expected, many PR’s (or Personal Records) were achieved. We even got to witness a boy and girl both break into the Johns Creek HS all time leaderboards!
The Varsity Boys began the action up against 25 teams and the Gladiators finished in 6th place to Pope. Senior Jack Hoben, who has been in command of this Gladiator squad all season, did not disappoint with a stunning 16:32, which was not only a PR but placed him 2nd of all time for JCHS XC! Hoben said that he thought the course was fast and it was the best course he ever ran and was extremely happy with his performance . Seniors Max Lichtenfeld ran 17:28, followed by Jack Jennings in 17:41 (PR), sophomore Asa Hawkins 17:50 (PR), and junior Luca Parker 18:00 (PR).
Varsity Girls were 3rd to West Forsyth and saw junior Dani Blank run a time of 20:17 (PR) which placed her 10th for JHCS XC of all time! Dani was all smiles after the race and we all congratulate her on a great performance! Her teammates sophomore Agam Horowitz 20:31, junior Brooke Mooney 20:34, sophomore Annabelle Buchanan 20:53 and junior Madi Wallace 21:11 all ran well.
JV Boys finished 3rd to West Forsyth with junior Jack Parks running a PR time of 18:21, followed by senior Jack Yarnall 18:44 (PR), junior Nicola Murvartian-Rhym 19:07, senior Harris Morgan 19:21 and freshman Kolin Brandeis 19:22 (PR).
Gladiator JV Girls also finished 3rd to West Forsyth and saw Pryianka Gowda run her season’s best of 22:54. Freshmen Sarah White and Kaite Moore ran PRs of 23:38 and 23:39 respectively in a blanket finish. Junior Bella Spector ran 24:18.
The next meet is at Webb Bridge Park on Tuesday, October 23rd for Fulton County Regionals. Good luck JCHS runners!
