Annually, the Gladiator Athletic Association awards two $1000 scholarships to a male and female scholar athlete. This year, the Gladiator Athletic Association received 20 submissions that displayed outstanding qualities in the classroom, community and within their sports. Competition was fierce, in true Gladiator fashion.
The Gladiator Athletic Association is thrilled to announce that Tyler Watson and Avery Mcilwaine as the 2020 Recipients the GAA Outstanding Athlete Scholarship.
Avery Mcilwaine is a stellar Lacrosse athlete and while off the field, she devoted her time to giving back through National Charity League and Habitat for Humanity. Avery graduated with a 4.0 GPA and will be continuing her academic interests while playing Division 1 Lacrosse at Furman in the Fall.
Tyler Watson will be turning in his Gladiator baseball uniform as he hits the mound at Georgia Tech in black and gold. Tyler has been recognized at the state and national levels for his baseball achievements, and also continues to support younger players growing up in the baseball program as an umpire in recreation leagues. Tyler is an active member with FLOOD and at North Point and graduates with a 3.7 GPA.
The GAA congratulates all our graduating Gladiators and hope every student athlete takes the dedication and perseverance learned on the field, course or pool and uses those skills in all facets of their lives.
