Female Athlete of the Month - Sofia Milano
Varsity Golf

We are proud to recognize Sofia Milano as Johns Creek High School’s Female Athlete of the Month for August 2025!

Sofia has been a dedicated member of the varsity golf team for the past two years, playing a key role in helping the team secure back-to-back state championships. Her commitment to excellence is evident in the extra hours she puts in outside of practice, always striving to improve and elevate her game.  Sofia’s passion for golf shines through every time she steps onto the course, inspiring her teammates and representing Johns Creek with pride and integrity.

Congratulations, Sofia! Your hard work, leadership, and love for the game make you a standout athlete and a valued member of our Gladiator community.

In my class, Sofia is hard-working and does not waste time during class.  She is a very motivated student and works with great attitude.  She is creative and tries to push herself to create something unique.  I have traveled with her to Japan and Italy, and she is very pleasant to be around and easy to work with.  I enjoy having her as a student.  She is well deserving of this recognition.  - Mikki Kim, Art Teacher

She is one of the hardest working players I have.  Constantly putting in extra work to get better.  She is a team leader, always willing to try new techniques and is first in line to run through drills.  Always excited to be out on the golf course.  – Jon Anderson, Head Golf Coach

Sofia has been a pleasure to teach US History. She regularly participates in class discussions and positively contributes to classwork.  – Amy Grasier, Social Studies Teacher

Sophia is one of the most talented, and hard-working students ever had the pleasure of teaching. Although I've never had a chance to coach her, she has taken on every class project with the same vigor and enthusiasm that she displays on the golf course. Sofia is an exceptional athlete, and an even better person. Congratulations Sophia!  -  Russell Gray, Business Teacher

Sofia is a very bright young lady. In class she works hard and does very well. She is always willing to talk about school and how she is doing as well as discuss golf. She gets very excited talking about golf. I am quite sure she puts as much effort in class as she does on the links.  - Jim Crase, Science Teacher

Sopia is the epitome of what a Johns Creek High School student should be. She is very active not only in her education but in the culture of the school. She always brings a big smile and commitment to whatever she does, and she is respected by her teachers and peers. - Raqeeb Mustafaa, English Teacher

I have only known Sofia for three weeks as her 11th grade ELA teacher this year… but, I can already say that she has a heart of gold and a bright future ahead of her in both sports and academics. Her poise and upbeat personality have already impressed me and make her a student that every teacher loves to teach!  I can imagine her talent on the golf course is just as impressive.  Congratulations, Sofia!!  - Ellen Filipelli, English Teacher
