Coach of the Month - Regina Tate-Leslie - Womens Basketball Coach, SALT Leader

Gladiator Nation is proud to recognize Regina Tate‑Leslie—“Coach TL”—as our January Coach of the Month. Adynamic leader in every space she enters, Coach TL guides our women’s basketball program, teaches with excellence in the classroom, and spearheads the development of young leaders through our Student-Athlete Leadership Team(SALT).

This season, Coach TL has the women’s basketball team competing at one of its highest levels in recent history, a reflection of her meticulous preparation, high expectations, and the deep relationships she builds with her athletes. Her impact, however, extends well beyond the scoreboard.

As the inaugural leader of the SALT program, she has mentored 20 student-athletes in leadership development throughout its first year. Under her direction, the group has already completed several community service projects and is actively planning two additional initiatives for the spring. Her passion for cultivating responsible, service‑minded student leaders is evident in everything she does.

Coach TL’s commitment to developing the whole person—athletically, academically, and personally—sets a powerful example for the entire athletic community. She invests fully in the students of Johns Creek, and her influence is felt across programs, classrooms, and grade levels.

“Regina is one of the most detailed and thought‑out planning coaches I have ever had the pleasure to be around. She pours everything into her basketball team as well as the classroom. We are blessed to have her at Johns Creek High School. Congratulations my friend, well deserved!” – Tim Thompkins, Assistnat Basketball Coach

“Coach TL is deeply committed to the growth of the basketball program and the personal development of every player. She invests significant time and energy into building strong relationships and fostering a positive team culture. Under her leadership, the girls’ program has improved year after year and continues to thrive.
One of her greatest strengths is creating a seamless connection between the high school and middle school programs, ensuring that players bond early and experience a smooth, welcoming transition. Coach TL views basketball not just as a sport, but as a powerful tool for shaping well‑rounded individuals. Her dedication goes beyond the court—she truly believes in using the game as an avenue for personal growth and lifelong success. I love working with her… we are 9 seasons strong!”
– Krista Tate, Assistant Basketball Coach

“Coach TL is phenomenal! From the classroom to the leadership room to the hardwood, she does everything to a high level for every student and athlete. We are so lucky to have her at The Creek!” – Chris Shearer, Principal

Coach TL’s tireless work, unwavering passion, and commitment to her students make her an exceptional representative of Johns Creek High School. She empowers young people, uplifts programs, and strengthens the heart of the Gladiator community.

Congratulations, Coach TL—well deserved and well earned!
