Female Athlete of the Month - Audrey Camiolo - Basketball & Soccer
Gladiator Athletics proudly recognizes Audrey Camiolo, are markable dual‑sport freshman athlete, as our February Athlete of the Month. In her first year of high school, Audrey has already made a name for herself both on the court and on the field—first as a starter on the varsity basketball team, and now as the starting goalkeeper for the varsity soccer team. Her maturity, competitive drive, and leadership elevate every team she’s part of.
Fresh off an impressive varsity basketball season, Audrey stepped into a new challenge: taking over the varsity goalkeeper position for the Gladiators soccer team. Without hesitation, she embraced the role—and has been outstanding.
Under her leadership in goal, Johns Creek has opened the season undefeated, thanks in large part to Audrey’s clutch performances. She has already helped the team secure three PK shootout victories, making multiple critical saves that sealed wins for the Gladiators.
Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jim Crase speaks highly of Audrey’s impact:
“Audrey has been exceptional in goal. She has helped us win games, especially in PK shootouts where she has blocked three kicks so far this season. She is a bright young student‑athlete and excels in the classroom as well.”
It’s rare for a freshman to take on such pressure—and even rarer to thrive in it.
Audrey’s competitive nature is what sets her apart, even among older athletes. Head Women’s Basketball Coach Regina Tate‑Leslie describes Audrey as wise beyond her years:
“Audrey is an amazing athlete. She is unlike her peers when it comes to understanding what it means to compete. She prepares herself for competition and she cares about that process. As a freshman, she is already a leader.”
As a member of S.A.L.T., Audrey applies leadership lessons with intention and maturity, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility to her teammates.
While Audrey’s athletic achievements are impressive, her teachers consistently highlight her academic excellence, focus, and character.
Nicholas Brigham, Social Studies teacher, shares:
“She clearly cares about both her classmates and the school as a whole. I look forward to watching her continue to develop into a leader of her peers both on and off the field.”
Nancy Lockwood, Honors Biology teacher, notes:
“Audrey demonstrates an incredible work ethic. She sets a strong example for her peers and regularly asks thoughtful questions that show her commitment to learning.”
Her positivity, leadership, and willingness to support classmates stand out in every subject.
ELA teacher Erika Bryant adds:
“She is selfless, uplifting, and dedicated to improving her craft. Her warmth and humor enrich our class every day.”
In Spanish, Kate Sanchez sees the same blend of drive and leadership:
“She is goal‑oriented and often exceeds expectations. She listens to peers’ ideas, keeps her group on task, and consistently produces exemplary work.”
And in math, Coach Savannah Davis concludes:
“Her responsibility, positive attitude, and dedication to both basketball and soccer make her truly deserving of this recognition.”
Whether it’s defending the goal in a high‑pressure shootout, leading her peers in the classroom, or serving on S.A.L.T., Audrey embodies what it means to be a Johns Creek Gladiator: poised, determined, resilient, and team‑first.
Her future is bright, and her impact—already significant—will only continue to grow.
Congratulations to Audrey Camiolo, our February Athlete of the Month!
