Game Recap: Johns Creek 2, Dunwoody 1

The Johns Creek varsity girls delivered a gritty, resilient performance tonight, earning a hard‑fought 2–1 victory over Dunwoody. From the opening whistle, the match had the feel of a postseason battle—tight, physical, and full of momentum swings.

First Half

The opening half was a back‑and‑forth contest, with both teams trading possession and defensive stops. Johns Creek finally broke through with the lone goal of the half: Baileigh Robinson dropped a smart pass back to Marcela Aston, who calmly slotted her shot past the keeper to give the Gladiators a 1–0 lead.

On the defensive end, Lacey Dahmani and Bianca Schell anchored the back line with poise, shutting down Dunwoody’s early attacks and keeping the lead intact heading into halftime.

Second Half

The intensity only grew after the break. Dunwoody found the equalizer midway through the half, leveling the match at 1–1 and putting pressure squarely back on Johns Creek.

But the Gladiators responded with the composure of a championship‑caliber squad. The eventual game‑winner came from Baileigh Robinson, who finished a decisive play set up by a sharp assist from Shennyn Giannelli. From there, Johns Creek held strong defensively to secure the win.
