Gladiators Come Up Short in 5–4 Battle at Lanier
The Johns Creek Gladiators built an early lead on Wednesday, March 11, but ultimately fell just short in a 5–4 loss to the Lanier Longhorns at Lanier High School.
Johns Creek struck quickly, collecting six hits to jump ahead 4–0 in the early innings. Drew King and Luke Volpe each delivered doubles to help fuel the offensive start, while Jadyn Shah, Kellen Marshall, Sean Kennedy, and Walker Smith all added singles as part of a balanced lineup attack.
On the mound, Micah Wilcox got the start for the Gladiators and worked 4.2 innings. He allowed five hits and five runs while striking out six Longhorns, keeping Johns Creek in position for much of the game before Lanier’s mid‑inning surge.
Despite falling behind, the Gladiators continued to fight, mounting a late push in the seventh inning as they attempted to tie the game. Their rally ultimately came up just short, resulting in a narrow one‑run loss on the road.
The Gladiators will look to bounce back quickly as they face the Lanier Longhorns again on Friday, March 13, at The Nic on the Johns Creek campus.
