Gladiators Fall 2–1 to Lanier in Pitcher Duel

The Johns Creek Gladiators came up just short on Monday night, falling 2–1 to the Lanier Longhorns in a tightly contested game played at Johns Creek High School.

Johns Creek received an excellent outing from starting pitcher Jacob Fetz, who worked 5⅓ scoreless innings and allowed only one hit. Fetz kept Lanier’s lineup off balance throughout his start, giving the Gladiators every chance to control the game.

At the plate, the Gladiators were led by Micah Wilcox, who collected two hits to anchor the offense. Chris Sellars and Sean Kennedy each added a hit as well, with Kennedy also stealing two bases to put pressure on Lanier’s defense.

The Gladiators broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning, taking a 1–0 lead when a passed ball allowed the game’s first run to score. However, Lanier answered in the top of the sixth, pushing across two runs to overtake Johns Creek and ultimately hold on for the win.

Johns Creek will look to bounce back quickly as the team travels to Milton High School on Tuesday, March 10, for a makeup game from last Friday.
