Gladiators Walk Off Cougars 10–9 on Senior Night
Johns Creek, GA — The Johns Creek Gladiators capped a thrilling Senior Night with a dramatic 10–9 walk‑off victory over the Chattahoochee Cougars on Friday, March 27, at The Nic. The win allowed the Gladiators to salvage the final game of the series in one of their most exciting finishes of the season.
Trailing 9–7 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Johns Creek mounted a late surge. Drew King delivered the pivotal hit of the inning, a two‑run single that scored Chris Sellars and Watson Dufresne to tie the game. Moments later, Luke Volpe stepped to the plate and lined a single that brought home Micah Wilcox, sealing the walk‑off win.
Volpe turned in a strong offensive performance throughout the night, finishing with multiple hits and reaching base four times. Kellen Marshall led the team in run production, driving in four runs, including a three‑run home run to right field that energized the Gladiator dugout. Austin Brumfield added a double off the center‑field wall, while Rhodes Sullivan contributed a single to left. Wilcox showcased discipline at the plate, drawing three walks.
On the mound, Shaan Banka provided a steady start, allowing only two earned runs across 4.2 innings. King, who fueled the comeback at the plate, also earned the win by pitching the sixth and seventh innings.
The comeback victory added to the festivities of Senior Night and gave Johns Creek momentum heading into its next matchup.
The Gladiators will return to action on Tuesday, March 31, when they host Holy Innocents’ Episcopal at The Nic. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
