Johns Creek Lets Early Lead Slip in 9–7 Loss to Seckinger
The Johns Creek Gladiators built an early five‑run cushion on Tuesday night but were unable to hold it, falling 9–7 to the Seckinger Jaguars at Seckinger High School.
Johns Creek struck quickly, jumping out to a 5–0 lead before the Jaguars mounted their comeback. Gladiators starting pitcher Donny Myers worked five innings and allowed three earned runs, keeping his team in control early. However, the course of the game shifted in the bottom of the third inning when Seckinger took advantage of a pair of defensive miscues to seize the momentum and ultimately take the lead.
The Gladiators continued to fight, pulling even at 7–7 in the sixth inning. Sean Kennedy paced the Johns Creek offense with a 2‑for‑3 performance, while Luke Volpe delivered a key triple in the sixth, driving in a run before scoring the tying run himself. Drew King and Micah Wilcox also contributed hits for Johns Creek.
Despite the rally, Seckinger answered late, pushing across two more runs to close out the game and hand the Gladiators a tough road loss.
Johns Creek will have to turn the page quickly as they return to action today, March 18, when they host Seckinger at 6 p.m. at The Nic on the Johns Creek High School campus.
