Johns Creek Men’s Soccer Captures Region Championship in Dramatic Fashion
The Johns Creek Gladiators men’s soccer team claimed the region championship in unforgettable fashion, defeating Milton 3–2 in a thrilling overtime showdown on Tuesday night.
The match ended in dramatic fashion as senior Daniel Wyborn delivered the game-winning goal with just one second remaining in overtime, sending the Gladiators into celebration and securing the region title.
Johns Creek struck first behind a strong attacking effort, with Ryan Gottschalk and Jacob Barrett each finding the back of the net to keep the Gladiators level in a tightly contested match. Milton answered repeatedly, forcing extra time and setting the stage for Wyborn’s final, decisive moment.
The victory capped off a perfect regular season in region play for Johns Creek. Over the course of the campaign, the Gladiators dominated their opponents, outscoring region foes 25–4 and finishing undefeated to earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming state playoffs.
With the region championship secured, the Gladiators now turn their focus toward the postseason. While the regular season accomplishments are impressive, the team knows the ultimate goal is still ahead.
Congratulations to Coach Bowler and the Johns Creek men’s soccer program on an outstanding regular season. The work isn’t finished — the playoffs await.
