Gladiators Capture Creek Cup Title in Thrilling PK Finish
Johns Creek varsity battled their way to a dramatic championship victory over Campbell in the finals of the Creek Cup, delivering a performance packed with grit, resilience, and late‑game heroics.
Both teams opened the match with high intensity, trading chances throughout a tightly contested first half that ended locked at 0–0. Campbell struck first in the second half, capitalizing twice to take a 2–0 lead. But the Gladiators refused to fold.
Johns Creek ignited their comeback when Bailegh Robinson buried a goal off a sharp assist from Avary Gress. Just five minutes later, the Gladiators equalized as Zaryah Housni finished a setup from Shennyn Giannelli, sending the home crowd into a frenzy and tying the match at 2–2.
Regulation ended with the score still even, pushing the championship to penalty kicks.
Johns Creek showed nerves of steel from the spot, converting their first four attempts. Campbell missed their opening kick, made the next two, and then met the defining moment of the night—goalkeeper Emily Ward stepped up with a clutch save to seal the 4–2 PK victory and secure the Creek Cup for the Gladiators.
The win marks a statement performance for Johns Creek as they continue their strong season.
