A tough second quarter proved costly for the Johns Creek Gladiators on Tuesday night, as they fell to the Lanier Longhorns 54–36 in a Region 7‑AAAAA matchup at Lanier High School.
Johns Creek battled evenly with the Longhorns for three of the four quarters, but Lanier seized control in the second period, using a decisive run to build a 28–9 halftime lead. The Gladiators responded with a strong second half, outscoring Lanier 27–26, yet the early scoring drought created too much ground to make up.
Freshman guard Audrey Camiolo led the Gladiators with 15 points, while junior forward Florida Johnson added 9. Lanier was paced by senior guard Jordan Johnson, who finished with 17.
Johns Creek now turns its attention to Friday’s road matchup at Roswell, where the Gladiators will look to complete a season sweep of the Hornets.
