Male Athlete of the Month - Tatum Holmes - Basketball

Gladiator Nation is proud to honor Tatum Holmes as our Male Athlete of the Month. A senior leader on the Gladiator basketball team, Tatum has been instrumental in guiding his squad to an impressive 15–3 start to the season. His talent, maturity, and leadership have elevated the program both on the court and in the classroom.

Tatum has showcased exceptional scoring ability throughout the season, but he delivered a standout performance in a recent matchup against #1-ranked Gainesville, posting a season-high 33 points in a game that came down to the wire. During that same contest, he achieved a career milestone by surpassing the 1,000-point mark, solidifying his place among the top scorers in Johns Creek basketball history. His work ethic and competitive spirit continue to drive the team’s success.

Beyond statistics, Tatum is known for his quiet confidence and his ability to inspire teammates. He leads through effort, composure, and consistency—qualities that make him a role model across campus.

“Tatum is friendly and always comes to class with a positive attitude.” – Dan Ritter, Math Teacher

“He’s a student that everyone in the class looks up to.” – Steve Kelley, Science Teacher

“I have Tatum for AMDM. He displays a good work ethic in the classroom. He is a respectful young man toward his peers and teachers. He takes pride in academics, always giving 100%to any task presented to him. Very classy and stand-up guy. I am glad to have had him as a student.” – April Higgins, Assistant Basketball Coach & Math teacher

Tatum is one of the most sincere students I’ve had the privilege to interact with. Although our conversations have happened off the court, he consistently demonstrates genuine care for his school, his peers, and his teachers. He contributes positively to the school by encouraging classmates, supporting teammates, and treating everyone with respect. Tatum is also the kind of student who will go out of his way to greet a teacher he has never had, simply to check in and brighten their day, which speaks volumes about the kind of young man he is.”– Morgan Eurek, Social Studies Teacher

Tatum Holmes has been the heartbeat of our Gladiators this season. Night after night, he leads us in scoring, rebounds, blocks, and steals, setting the tone with his effort and determination. He has delivered in the biggest moments—knocking down game‑winners, sinking pressure free throws, and answering the call whenever we need a basket.

This year, Tatum etched his name into school history by scoring his 1,000th career point, an achievement reserved for only a select few. But even that milestone doesn’t fully capture who he is.

What truly sets Tatum apart is his character. He is coachable, humble, and a model example for his teammates. His love for the game shows in the way he practices, competes, and carries himself every single day. Watching his growth—both as a player and as a young man—has been one of the great joys of this season.

I couldn’t be happier for him. His senior year is unfolding exactly the way he has earned it, and it’s been a privilege to witness the player and person he is becoming.”Joe Eineker, Assistant Basketball Coach

“I am very grateful to have gotten to coach someone like Tatum. He is always putting his best effort into becoming a better basketball player. His hard work and dedication to improving have been very evident this year. In addition, he is extremely polite and respectful to his peers and teachers. Every teacher I have spoken to about him always have something positive to say about him. This is a true testament to his character. I am very appreciative of the fact that I have gotten to coach him over the past 4 years.” –Tanner Burnett, Head Basketball Coach

Tatum is hardworking, humble, and dedicated to excellence in all aspects of life. His impact will leave a lasting legacy on the basketball program and the school community.

Congratulations, Tatum! Gladiator Nation is proud of everything you’ve accomplished—and excited to see what comes next.
