Johns Creek Swim and Dive Shines at State Meet, Boys and Girls Finish as State Runners-Up
The Johns Creek Gladiators swim and dive team delivered a powerhouse performance at the GHSA State Meet held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, putting together an impressive championship showing. With multiple state titles, All-American performances, and podium finishes across the board, the Gladiators proved once again they belong among Georgia’s elite.
The night started with an unforgettable statement as both the girls and boys 200 individual medley relay teams captured state championships, each posting All-American qualifying times. The back-to-back relay victories set the tone early and energized the entire Gladiator contingent in attendance.
Johns Creek continued to pile up points with standout individual performances, led by senior star Jacob Wajnberg, who claimed the 200 individual medley state championship in dominant fashion while also earning an All-American time. Wajnberg wasn’t done there — he later returned to win the 500 freestyle state title, adding another championship to his remarkable weekend.
Another major highlight came from Teagan Markott , who rose to the occasion in the spotlight event of the meet, winning the 100 butterfly state championship and doing so with an All-American qualifying performance.
Johns Creek’s championship momentum stayed strong as Jackson Lou captured the 100 breaststroke state title, continuing the Gladiators’ tradition of excellence in the sprint and stroke events.
The relay dominance continued late into the meet, as the girls 400 freestyle relay team turned in an All-American qualifying time, further showcasing Johns Creek’s depth and ability to perform under pressure on the biggest stage.
When the final points were tallied, the results reflected the team’s consistency and strength from top to bottom: both the Johns Creek boys and girls teams finished second overall in the state meet, capping off an outstanding season filled with record-setting performances and championship-level effort.
Beyond the medals and trophies, what truly defined this Gladiators squad was the bond between teammates and their relentless commitment to excellence. The camaraderie, work ethic, and competitive fire displayed all season long made this group special — and the future of Johns Creek swim and dive looks brighter than ever.
